4K Stretch Goals Unlocked!

We’re at the halfway point, and the Jolly Lark painting handle campaign continues to climb upward, as word about the handles spreads and more people join the Kickstarter. With all the new backers, you’ve unlocked the 4K stretch goal, adding reusable putty to every pledge!  The more handles that are in your pledge, the more you’ll receive.

The photo pictures blue putty, which is what I’ve been using for months. I’m testing some new putty now which, depending on how it holds up, may be an improvement - stay tuned, and don’t be surprised if the putty in your pledge is a different color.

New 5K Stretch Goal - Bonus Handles!

With the 4K stretch goal unlocked, we’re also revealing the biggest stretch goal yet: bonus handles! How many you’ll receive depends on your pledge level:

The inspiration for this project was wanting a LOT of handles (in my opinion, you can’t have too many).  The early bird Battalion pledges are now almost half gone, so if you’re on the fence about getting more handles, don’t wait too long.

Thanks again for your support - we’re looking forward to seeing the campaign’s second half!

1st Stretch Goal Unlocked + Handle Organizing Solutions
over 1 year ago – Tue, Aug 30, 2022 at 09:27:38 AM

With your support, you’ve unlocked the first stretch goal! All pledges will now include a 2” expansion disc you can use to accommodate larger bases.

Unlocked!

We’re about halfway to the next stretch goal, which adds pins for all your handles! These are great for making your own racks, project boards, or other organizing contraptions.

To give everyone a sense of how these work, we put together a quick video showing how easy it is to make your own project board or tray – no glue required! The video also shows my favorite off-the-rack solution, a wooden spool rack. Check it out:

Thank you for a successful launch! Jolly Lark Painting Handles are funded!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Aug 30, 2022 at 09:20:51 AM

Wow, thanks to everyone who backed the Kickstarter campaign today! With your help, the campaign is funded in just a few hours!

I’m really excited to get these into everyone’s hands (literally). “Game-changer” is an overused phrase, but having every model on its own handle really does change how I paint. Painting 20, 30, or even 40+ models at a time doesn’t feel as daunting. Feedback from the painters who received some early samples has been overwhelmingly positive. Just today, Jeff Hall added his comments to the campaign:

"I have been very pleased with the Jolly Lark painting handle. They are super comfortable to use and are perfect for working on units since you can easily line up 10 or so for batch painting."

-Jeff Hall @rpgterrainbuilds

Over the course of the campaign, I’ll keep you updated with more painting videos, how-to videos on making your trays and project boards, and more. Jolly Lark is a one-man band at this point, so I’m headed to bed and will be back tomorrow to update the campaign with some Day 2 Stretch Goals - stay tuned!

Wow - 3K! Two more Stretch Goals already unlocked!

Two More Unlocked Stretch Goals

It's been a busy weekend for the painting handle campaign! With your support, we've now unlocked both the 2.5K and 3K stretch goals!

Both of these give you more options for how to use and organize your painting handles. You'll get enough pins for all the handles in your pledge, which gives you lots of options for creating your own storage solutions. You can also add more of these to your pledge if you want to have extra project boards or more options.

If you haven't already, you can see a quick how-to video on organizing your handles.

The 3" expansion disc is enough surface area to handle even the biggest (plastic) models. With a good-size blob of poster putty, even something like a war mammoth or treeman will stay stuck.

Speaking of which, we've also revealed the next stretch goal, at 4K:

Stretch Goals!

Stretch Goals!

We’ve had a terrific first 24 hours, and I’m excited to add Stretch Goals to the campaign! Now that many of the early bird pledges have been claimed, it’s going to be even more important to let your friends and online communities know about the campaign!

The Jolly Lark Painting Handles are a simple, elegant solution to make your painting faster and more comfortable, and the stretch goals are aimed at complementing and expanding their usefulness.

First up, we have free expansion discs for all backers!  For every 5 handles in your pledge, you’ll receive a 2” expansion disc.

These are made from sturdy 1/16” plywood. The handles work great for painting larger models, but when your miniature’s base gets larger than about 60mm, it’s good to have a little more surface area for the base to attach to.

Early Bird Pledges Going Fast

The 10-Handle “Squad” pledge has been the most popular so far. As of this update, they’re no longer available. I’d expect some of the other early bird pledges to fill up soon too.

This is in the campaign, but it's worth repeating here: Early Bird pledges will ship 1-2 weeks after the campaign ends. Early Bird backers will then have the opportunity to order more handles through the pledge manager - but these additional handles will then ship alongside the regular pledges, in March 2023. If you’re on the fence about wanting more than 10 handles, now would be a good time to upgrade to a “Battalion” pledge.

Thank you all very much for your support!
